Women attending the launch of the Inuktituk Bible in 2012
The Bible in Inuktitut, the language of around 30,000 Inuit people living in Canada’s Eastern Arctic and Northern Quebec, was launched amidst great rejoicing in June 2012. Yet a launch is never the end of the process of Bible translation. Draft translations are repeatedly tested among samples of speakers, but after a translation is launched the process of feedback continues. It is in response to such feedback that the Canadian Bible Society is shortly to begin making some revisions to the Inuktitut Bible.
